The 313+ Ancestors Speak is a project designed to give voice to the lives of the 313+ enslaved and free African ancestors buried on the grounds of Siloam-Hope First Presbyterian Church (formally First Presbyterian Church) in Elizabeth New Jersey. The story of the 313+ begins with three distinct entities: Siloam-Hope First Presbyterian Church (formally First Presbyterian Church), Old First Cemetery, and Snyder Academy of Elizabethtown
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the Honoring Our Ancestors Wildest Dreams Annual Fundraiser, hosted by the 313+ Ancestors Speak Project. This special event will take place on November 1, 2024, at Snyder Academy, 42 Broad Street, Elizabeth, NJ. The evening will begin at 3 PM with a captivating art show featuring works by the renowned artist Sterling Brown. Enjoy a delectable buffet-style dinner while celebrating the extraordinary contributions of our community members.
During the event, we will present Civic Awards to three distinguished honorees:
- Earl Graves – Director, City of Elizabeth Police Department
- Krishna Garlic – Director, Health & Human Services, City of Elizabeth
- Johnathan Frazer – Worshipful Master 2023-24, Lincoln Lodge #62
